Thalasso

What is thalasso?

The term thalasso comes from the Greek (“thalassa” meaning “sea”). A thalasso therapy is therefore a treatment using ingredients from the sea.

The healing power of seawater and its components is what thalasso is all about. Rheumatism, heart complaints, skin conditions – these and many other ailments can be treated complementarily with thalasso therapy – the Greeks already knew this.

Everyone knows how good a day by the sea feels. Mudflat hiking, bathing in the waves, breathing the salty air – all of this works wonders for many complaints.

A genuine thalasso therapy requires several criteria, all of which are met here in Dornumersiel:

  • Low-allergen sea air
  • A thalasso facility close to the sea
  • Therapists, doctors and masseurs complete the thalasso programmes
  • Health-promoting activities by the sea alongside the thalasso treatments

Outpatient spa cure (ambulante Badekur)

In Dornum you can take an outpatient spa cure. This means you do not stay in a spa clinic (there is none in Dornum anyway) – instead you book your own holiday accommodation, for example with us. All treatments prescribed by the spa doctor in Dornumersiel are provided at the spa treatment centre, the Therapie- und Wohlfühlzentrum (TWZ) in Dornumersiel.

Our tip: under certain conditions your health insurance may support your cure stay. If a health risk exists and your doctor confirms the medical necessity of a spa cure, you can apply for it with your health insurer. Insurers are often reluctant – but don't be discouraged and stay persistent! German social law even states that outpatient measures are to be preferred over inpatient ones. To get healthy and stay healthy, you have to feel good. So: off on holiday for your health!
